Step 1

Update Portfolio

Enter your account vitals. CSV import is optional — manual entries work without it.

Daily routine — do both
Each day, import your positions here, then your history (📋 Import History) — whether or not you traded. Positions show your current open book; history captures anything that closed or rolled between imports. Together they keep the journal complete.
Enter your broker's actual available buying power to show it exactly. Leave blank to estimate it from Net Liq and BP%.
Leave blank if using CSV — delta calculates automatically from positions.
📄 How to export your positions CSV
tastytrade: Positions tab → ⋯ menu → Export to CSV. Greeks are included automatically.
thinkorswim (desktop): Monitor → Activity and Positions → on the Position Statement section, click the ⚙/menu icon → Export to File.
First time only: right-click the column header and add Delta, Theta, and IV_Percentile. Make sure "hide balances" is OFF so dollar values aren't masked. (PoP isn't available there — that's fine, it's optional.)
thinkorswim Web: there's no CSV export — open your Positions page in the browser, save the page (Ctrl/Cmd-S, "Webpage, Complete" or "Single File"), and import that .html file here. The app reads it directly. Greeks are included; nothing needs masking turned off in the web view.
No special file needed otherwise — the app detects your broker and format automatically.
📥 Select CSV (optional for tastytrade users)
No file selected — manual mode

You can change the name or type later in Settings → Accounts.

🗂️ Manage Accounts

Switch, rename, set the type, or permanently remove an account. Each account keeps its own positions, history, ledgers, and journal — all on this device.

⚡ Add or repair a connection

Most members only need the main Connect Broker button. tastytrade traders can also add the direct link below for same-day fills. Both are read-only — neither can place, modify, or cancel a trade.

tastytrade — connect directly
You sign in at tastytrade; we never see your password. Direct connection, so same-day fills appear the day you trade rather than the next morning. This adds fills and history — to load your positions and balances as well, also link through SnapTrade below.
Main connection — any broker, via SnapTrade
Loads your positions and balances for any broker — tastytrade, Schwab, Fidelity, Interactive Brokers, E*TRADE and more — through SnapTrade’s secure connection portal. Allow pop-ups for this site. Transactions arrive the following day.

🔍 Find a Chart Symbol

Search Yahoo Finance for any stock, ETF, or index, then use the exact symbol it shows in a chart's ⚙ settings. Indices start with ^ (e.g. ^VIX, ^RUT); ETFs and stocks are plain (e.g. SPY, QQQ); futures end in =F (e.g. ES=F).

Log Short Put

Enter position details. DTE calculates automatically. Mark and greeks update when your broker syncs.

Mark, theta, and delta will show — until a broker sync matches this position.

Edit Income Targets

Adjust your planning inputs. Changes apply immediately across the dashboard.

Split Position

tastytrade groups these together because the contract is identical, but they're separate trades — different order numbers, different fill times. Route each one independently.

Assign to Group

Group related positions — e.g. the four legs of one iron condor — so they cluster together within the department for review. Grouping is remembered across imports.

Rename Group

Renames the group everywhere it appears. Renaming to a name that already exists merges the two groups.

Import Transaction History

tastytrade: Account → History → date range → Export CSV.
thinkorswim: Monitor → Account Statement → Export to File.

Part of your daily routine
Run this every day, right after your positions import — whether or not you traded. Your positions file can't see anything that closed or rolled between downloads; this fills those gaps. Overlapping date ranges are safe — entries de-duplicate, so pull a wide range when in doubt.
Leave blank to import everything. Set to your program start date to exclude older, pre-program trades.

Override KPI Value

Enter a manual value to override the calculated amount. Leave blank to restore the calculated value.

Leave blank to use the value calculated from your positions

Update Portfolio Vitals

Type the Option Buying Power your broker shows (thinkorswim: Option Buying Power, or just Buying Power on an IRA or cash account). The journal keeps it for this account, even after the broker re-syncs. Clear the box to go back to the broker's figure.
Leave blank to use delta calculated from your positions

📋 Trade History — How It Works

Trade History imports your complete transaction record from tastytrade and organizes every roll, open, and close in one filterable view.

How to Import

In tastytrade go to Account → History, set your date range, export CSV. Then click 📋 Import History in the journal header and import the file. The journal deduplicates automatically — import overlapping date ranges safely.

Transaction Types
Roll Short — BTC + STO same order
Roll Long — BTO + STC same order
Full Roll — All four legs together
Open Short — New short position
Close Short — Closed without rolling
Open Long — New long position
Reading the Table

Click any row to expand the individual legs inline — strike, expiry, fill price, and fees for each leg. Use the filters to narrow by transaction type or date range.

Coming in Phase 3

When the tastytrade API is live, every fill streams into Trade History automatically in real time — no importing needed.

Log Hedge Entry

Record when you move a position to the Hedge department or make an adjustment.

Enter the dollar amount per contract (e.g. $350/contract for 5 contracts = $1,750 total). Do not multiply by 100.

↻ Roll Position

Updates this position's strike, expiry & DTE immediately. Greeks and mark refresh on your next sync.

↻ Apply Rolls from History

These Roll Short orders from your history match open positions. Applying updates each position's strike, expiry & DTE and logs the net to the Credit Ledger. Uncheck any you don't want.

Log Roll Entry

Log a credit or debit from a roll session. The ledger nets them automatically.

ⓘ How these metrics are calculated
Premium = net option credits (puts & calls sold − buybacks) summed from your history import. · Shares Held = shares from the stock lot you routed to Wheel. · Avg Assign = cost basis per share, taken from the imported stock lot — click to override. · Eff. Basis/sh = Avg Assign − (premium ÷ shares) — premiums lower your effective basis. · Short Call = your active covered call's strike, moneyness (ITM/OTM) and days to expiry. · If Called = premium + (call strike − avg assign) × shares — P/L if the shares get called away here. · Realized = called-away proceeds − (avg assign × shares called away), from events you log manually. · Net Income = Premium + Realized. Phase is derived from your live legs (CSP → holding shares → covered call). (v1 model — please confirm these match how you track the wheel.)

Find a Trade
One search for every trade, new or roll. Press the button that matches what you want, then the next, and I will search for it. Nothing is placed; you decide.
Roll Choices
Pick a position you hold and set the limits a roll must meet. The engine prices every roll it can find and ranks the ones that pass. Nothing is placed for you.
Ranks candidate rolls on a position you hold. Two modes: moving the short leg — put or call — on a position under defense, or moving the long leg when protection is cheap, which is an opportunity trade with no defense precondition at all. You choose which of the three criteria — credit/debit, buying power, delta — actually filter, and which one leads the ranking; the others still report their values on every row. A debit is a legitimate answer, so the credit-and-buying-power test is reported as a badge rather than enforced. The engine knows which side of the short the long sits on and computes the requirement accordingly: a credit spread is margined on its width, an inverted one on its net debit. It offers every short option you hold, in any department, paired with the nearest long beyond it in that same department — a long bought for one purpose is never borrowed to cap a short held for another. Rejected candidates stay visible so you can see what your book will not permit.
A hypothetical is priced against live spot and the live chain, exactly as a held position is — so it is judged by the same arithmetic, not a softer version of it.
Every short option you hold is listed — puts and calls, any department — paired with the nearest long beyond it in the same department. Untick to narrow. The long leg is derived, not stored, so anything questionable about the pairing is called out when you select a row, including a long that was passed over for being routed elsewhere.
How to read this tool

What it does. You hold a short option that is in trouble. This tool prices every roll you could do (sell a new option, buy back the old one) and keeps only the ones that fit the limits you set. It never places a trade.

How to use it. 1) Pick the position under “Position under defense”. 2) Choose a search style below (Cautious, Balanced or Aggressive); it sets how far from the money the new short may sit. 3) Press Find rolls. 4) Start with the cards at the top: each is the winner at one thing (most credit, most buying power freed, closest to your delta target, best overall). They are often different rolls, and that gap is the trade-off. 5) Tick compare on up to three rolls to see them side by side.

Reading a row. Net credit is the cash you collect to do the roll. Buying power freed is margin your broker releases. Delta is a rough read of assignment risk: 0.15 means roughly a 15% chance of finishing in the money. Days added is extra time. A row with the ✓ credit + BP freed badge pays you a credit and frees buying power.

The score. A number from 0 to 100 that rates each roll against the others in this search: mostly buying power freed, then how close the delta is to your target, less a small deduction for added days (steering adds a fourth part). Hover it for the breakdown. Scores within about 5 points are effectively tied, so read the numbers.

Everything here is arithmetic on market prices and your own settings. It is not advice or a prediction. Hover any ⓘ for a plain-language explanation.

Search style Pick a style to set the delta range in one click, or set it by hand below.
Switch a criterion on to filter on it, off to leave it out of the decision — its value still shows on every row. Mark one as lead and it sorts the results. The credit-and-buying-power test is reported as a badge on each row rather than filtering, so a deliberate debit is findable.
Credit is the cash you collect to do the roll. A minimum of 0 means never pay to roll.
Blank max = no upper bound. A negative min allows a debit.
Buying power freed is margin your broker releases when the roll is done. More freed leaves more room for other trades.
Delta is a rough read on risk: 0.10 means roughly a 10% chance the option finishes in the money. Lower = further from the money, less premium, less assignment risk. Higher = more premium, more risk. Floor and ceiling fence the range; the target is what scores best.
The short leg's own delta, not the structure's net delta.
Leave blank for the default 1.5× today's requirement. Rolling the short toward the money widens the spread against a fixed long leg, so a cap set at today's requirement would veto every such roll by construction. Not enforced across a change of structural state.

New Position
Text size 130%
Choose a structure and set the limits it must meet. The engine searches the live option chain and ranks what passes. Nothing is placed for you.
Searches the live chain for a new position and ranks what it finds — nothing here is a rule, every number is yours to set. It starts from how you have actually opened these (Dec 2025 – Sep 2026) and remembers what you last used. Pick any structure in the list: Weekly Income set, credit spread, debit spread, iron condor, strangle or straddle.
How to read this tool

What it does. Searches the live option chain for a new position (a Weekly Income set, credit spread, debit spread, iron condor, strangle or straddle) that fits the limits you set, then ranks what it finds. It never places a trade.

How to use it. 1) Choose a structure and an underlying. 2) Choose a search style (Cautious, Balanced or Aggressive); it sets how far from the money the short strike may sit. 3) Press Find positions. 4) Start with the cards at the top: each is the winner at one thing (most credit, least cash tied up, closest to your delta target, best overall). They are often different rows, and that gap is the trade-off. 5) Tick compare on up to three rows to see them side by side.

Reading a row. The plain sentence under each position tells you what it collects, what it ties up, and how risky the short strike is. Delta is a rough read of assignment risk: 0.15 means roughly a 15% chance the option finishes in the money. Requirement is the buying power the position ties up; “modelled” means calculated here, not quoted by your broker.

The score. A number from 0 to 100 that rates each row against the others in this search: credit, how little cash it ties up, and how close the delta is to your target (steering adds a fourth part). It never looks at days to expiration or probability of profit. Hover it for the breakdown. Scores within about 5 points are effectively tied, so read the numbers. With only a row or two, scores run high automatically.

Everything here is arithmetic on market prices and your own settings. It is not advice or a prediction. Hover any ⓘ for a plain-language explanation.

Search style Pick a style to set the delta range in one click, or set it by hand below.
Weekly Income set — the short and the long
0 = the long takes the same strike as the short. A minus number puts the long further from the money (a credit-spread shape; 52% of your openings), a plus number puts it nearer the money than the short (inverted; 23%). Same strike was 25%. Put 0 and 0 to test same strikes only.
Delta is a rough read on risk: 0.10 means roughly a 10% chance the option finishes in the money. Lower = further from the money, less premium, less assignment risk. Higher = more premium, more risk. Floor and ceiling fence the range; the target is what scores best.
The short leg's own delta as a magnitude. Short strikes outside it are not paired with anything.
Type the strike prices you would be happy to sell, for example 745 to 750. Leave a box empty for no limit on that side. This works together with the delta range: a strike must pass both. If you would rather choose by price alone, switch the delta range off.
Advanced: net credit range and buying power ceiling
For the whole structure, at your haircut. A Weekly Income set is usually a debit — the long cost about three times the short's credit in your history — so leave this off, or set a negative minimum to cap how much you will pay.
Buying power
A ceiling on what the new position would tie up. Nothing is being replaced, so there is no “freed” figure here. Same-strike and inverted shapes are margined on the net debit, which is modelled, not quoted — brokers differ.
Roll Watch
Keeps an eye on the long options under your Weekly Income set positions and tells you when a roll is worth doing. It only reads prices and tells you; it never places a trade.
How to read this tool

What it does. Every few minutes while the market is open it looks at each long option in your account, prices the rolls available out to your ceiling (150 days by default), and works out what each one costs per week of time it buys. The cheapest sits in the “Best roll now” column.

When it speaks. Two cases. Getting short: a long is down to your warning (75 days) or floor (60 days), and the alert names the best roll available right now. Cheap roll: a long that still has time could be rolled out for no more than your limit ($100 a week per contract by default), so you can take it before you are forced to. A long that stays short reminds you once a day, not every check.

The number. Cost a week = what the roll costs in total (close the old long, open the new one) divided by the weeks it adds. A roll that adds 63 days (9 weeks) for $650 costs about $72 a week. Green is inside your limit, red is over. Prices use the worst case by default (sell at the bid, buy at the ask), so real fills are usually a little better.

Alerts. They show here, as a banner, and as a red count on the Tools tab. Press Turn on desktop alerts for browser notifications. They only work while the journal is open in a browser tab. To be told when the journal is closed, switch on Also watch while I am away: the server keeps watching and emails you, and sends one short summary email each Monday morning.

Everything here is arithmetic on market prices and your own limits. It is not advice or a prediction, and exchange holidays are not modelled (on a holiday it simply finds nothing new).

Settings: the limits that decide when it speaks
Recent alerts
Market Drop Check. What would happen to your whole account if the market fell (or rose) by a set amount right now? The table adds up every position you hold, so you can see the size of the worst case before it happens, not after. It only reads what is already loaded; it places nothing.

⚠️ Does not implement wash-sale deferral. If a loss position was repurchased within 30 days, the IRS requires that loss be deferred into the replacement position's basis rather than recognized immediately — this report does not apply that rule. Treat this as a strong starting point for your preparer, not a final number, until a wash-sale check is added.
🕐 A roll is recorded here as two separate trades — closing the old contract, then opening a fresh one — matching how a broker's own 1099-B treats it, not as one continuous position.
